The author of the logo for the association HERMES is Giuseppe Ganga, an
Italian artist with a passion for the classical world. The artist's imagery
refers to it through a novel interpretation of its myths. Hermes, in the
ancient Greek mythology, was the son of Zeus and the nymph Maia. As a
messenger of the gods, he travelled across boundaries - symbolised here by
the wholeness of the globe - and acted as an interpreter to the humans of
hidden meanings. Here Hermes is represented through his caduceus, a winged
staff entwined with two snakes.
