The following is a list of HERMES' past and forthcoming activities.
After having coordinated the Research Stream at the European Sociological Association (University of Lisbon on Sept. 2nd-5th, 2009) on 'Research Methods in Ethnic and Migration Studies', Hermes is working with ESA participants and Hermes members to edit a special issue of the journal 'Migration Letters' (http://www.migrationletters.com/)
Having received the submission of many interesting papers (with closing date on 1st December 2009), we are now expecting to:
Review of submitted papers: between 1 Dec.2009 - 15th Jan. 2010
Deadline for revised final papers: 15 February 2010
Publication available: 1 April 2010

Hermes coordinated the Research Stream at the European Sociological Association (University of Lisbon on Sept. 2nd-5th, 2009) on 'Research Methods in Ethnic and Migration Studies'. The conference theme was 'Conflict, Citizenship and Civil Society'. We have chaired 6 sessions on 'Experiencing new approaches: internet, creative and visual methods', 'Qualitative challenges: definitions, ethics and participatory approaches', 'Challenges in measuring integration and undocumented migration', 'Emerging approaches: gender and narrative perspectives', 'Transnationalism and history', 'Generational perspectives', plus one poster session on 'Discussion of methodological questions in migration studies'. The total of 30 presentations have raised many intersting issues. Participation in the International Conference Ethnic Minorities in Science and Higher Education, organised by the Austrian Science and Research Office Ljubljana (Slo), Dubrovnik, Croatia.
