HERMES is a network of European researchers working in the fields of migration, ethnic relations and minority studies.
Established as a non-profit organisation in 2004 and regulated by its own statute since 2005, HERMES aims at promoting competence in international comparative research and at facilitating international co-operation among European researchers.
In 2008, HERMES started to operate as an inclusive and non-hierarchical network of early-stage researchers, offering unique possibilities to communicate, explore and learn from the differences of disciplines, cultures and research traditions inside the EU, providing the ground for the future state of European social science in the field of migration.Founded for a significant part by women, HERMES aims at promoting their relevance within European social science.
After having coordinated the Research Stream at the European Sociological Association (University of Lisbon on Sept. 2nd-5th, 2009) on 'Research Methods in Ethnic and Migration Studies', Hermes is working with ESA participants and Hermes members to edit a special issue of the journal 'Migration Letters' (http://www.migrationletters.com/)

We are looking for new ideas and new projects to share with Hermes researchers. Migration and Ethnic studies continue to raise questions and offer perspective of analysis that are globally relevant. As early stage researchers, we are seeking ways to collaborate and enhance this potential. Please get in contact with us if you are intersted in proposing a project or a collaboration.
